new issue in German Uncyclopedia[Quelltext bearbeiten]

At the moment we have a user spamming the German wiki full with english humorless articles. User Zyniker, the only admin seems to have been lost, as well as the other wiki caretakers NaturalBornKieler and IchBinIch who stood in contact with Zyniker. Thus we need a User in role "Administrator". More in a wiki-Mail. U. Kulick (Diskussion) 10:52, 9. Mär. 2022 (UTC)

Now I've sent the mail. Please read it Please act - You might save the German Uncyclopedia. U. Kulick (Diskussion) 11:37, 9. Mär. 2022 (UTC)

problem solved[Quelltext bearbeiten]

Hello @Lyrithya

I also contacted Ichbinich, and he already helped. Thus the mail You got from me may need no more further action by You as answer.

best regards, Uwe U. Kulick (Diskussion) 08:46, 11. Mär. 2022 (UTC)

Awesome, glad it worked out! Seriously, it took me way too long to even get back here and see this. Not until now, the reply lag was even more once I realised there was no more pressing need, but... still too long. Lyrithya (Diskussion) 20:37, 25. Mär. 2022 (UTC)

Image upload[Quelltext bearbeiten]

Hi Lyrithya, here's my first yell: When I try to upload images (using Spezial:Hochladen), the page does not open, it seems to load eternally. --NaturalBornKieler (Diskussion) 17:55, 31. Mär. 2019 (UTC)

There was some bad js, I removed it. Hard refresh your browser and it should now work. Lyrithya (Diskussion) 18:26, 31. Mär. 2019 (UTC)
Yay, works like a charm now. --NaturalBornKieler (Diskussion) 20:02, 31. Mär. 2019 (UTC)

Spam wave[Quelltext bearbeiten]

Hi Lyritha, it seems we are experiencing a wave of spam (creation of nonsense articles with the sole purpose of promoting certain weblinks) lately. I tried protecting pages and blocking IPs, but since the article names are random and the IPs change by the hour, this does not help much. Can we somehow stop IPs and newly registered users from creating articles, or at least from putting external links into articles? (Please note that I am not very familiar with Mediawiki so that we might need some help here). TIA, --NaturalBornKieler (Diskussion) 12:34, 1. Okt. 2019 (UTC)

@NaturalBornKieler: You probably need to use abusefilter for this. It's possible en has been running to similar problems and already has some filters you could just copy - maybe take a look there, and see if the names look relevant? Looks like most of the recent ones are set to private so you may need to ask the authors about them, or if this is likely something you'd need to do a lot, we could also just give you access to view the lot of them there too? Let me know. Lyrithya (Diskussion) 16:30, 1. Okt. 2019 (UTC)
Thank you for this pointer. I tried this now, let's see if it helps. Most of the filters in the English Uncy are private, so that I cannot see them, but I found an example or two that might help me. --NaturalBornKieler (Diskussion) 18:34, 1. Okt. 2019 (UTC)
Hi @Lyrithya, long time no chat! We have the actual spam problem covered with the abusefilter, but there is still a wave of newly registered users that obviously are from spambots. This is not an urgent problem, but I thought we could add a captcha to the registration process to stop this. Is that possible and if yes, how? TIA! --NaturalBornKieler (Diskussion) 16:54, 6. Mär. 2021 (UTC)
@NaturalBornKieler: So we may want to consider applying certain abusefilters/other global solutions against this at some point, but in the meantime, yeah, a better captcha is probably the simplest/easiest thing to do right now. Probably we'd want a question captcha, where you send us some question-answer pairs that legitimate new users should be able to match the supplied answers with a basic understanding of the site or something. (Maybe email me the questions and I can add them to the config once you decide on some, if that sounds good?) Lyrithya (Diskussion) 19:46, 8. Mär. 2021 (UTC)
Thank you, that sounds perfect, @Lyrithya! The abuse filters are fine as they are, I believe. But this question answer captcha would cut off the registration spammers for sure. I would give you a list of (rather primitive) questions and answers in German, that should do the trick. Where can I send this? --NaturalBornKieler (Diskussion) 23:05, 8. Mär. 2021 (UTC)
@NaturalBornKieler: Easiest way is probably the email user form: Spezial:E-Mail_senden/Lyrithya. I know it's set correctly because I'm getting notification emails! (Not always a safe assumption even if the link is there, though, I know.) --Lyrithya (Diskussion) 05:11, 9. Mär. 2021 (UTC)
@NaturalBornKieler: Hey, did you ever try to send me the list of question/answers? If so, maybe something isn't set up correctly after all, or if you need some other way to do it, you can also try emailing me directly at zhorishna@.pnggmail.com, or even just paste it here and we can revdel it after. (And if you're stumped for questions, anything basic about the site, or even just common knowledge that's in german should indeed do it.) Lyrithya (Diskussion) 16:08, 13. Apr. 2021 (UTC)
Hi @Lyrithya, the system does not allow me to send emails because my email is not "confirmed". I tried to use the confirm button but nothing happens, even though my email address in the system looks correct. No idea what is wrong here. But I have prepared a short list of questions and will send it to you now so that we can test this. Thanks! --NaturalBornKieler (Diskussion) 07:11, 14. Apr. 2021 (UTC)
Ah, crap. Thanks for letting me know. And you verified the confirmation email didn't wind up in your junk/spam folder or something? Will it let you try it again now? --Lyrithya (Diskussion) 20:30, 14. Apr. 2021 (UTC)
@Lyrithya I tried it again and the wiki tells me that the confirmation email was sent, but there is nothing in my inbox, spam folder included. --NaturalBornKieler (Diskussion) 08:57, 15. Apr. 2021 (UTC)
Strange. I made a new account and had no issues confirming an email on that, but maybe it's getting tripped up because yours is older and was imported? Can you maybe try to unset the email, then set it again? Or... I dunno. Damn. --Lyrithya (Diskussion) 20:01, 15. Apr. 2021 (UTC)
Oh, it looks like this may well be an issue with your email provider blocking these emails. Not really sure if there's anything we can do about that, either. Thanks for the followup, though. If we ever come up with anything better here, I suppose I'll let you know? Lyrithya (Diskussion) 21:08, 15. Apr. 2021 (UTC)
